Medical Director of Neuroendovascular Medicine, St. Joseph Mercy Oakland - Stroke Center

Dr. Xavier is the Medical Director of Neuroendovascular Services and an interventional neurologist at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland. He is a pioneer in the field of Vascular and Interventional Neurology and is a founding director of the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology (SVIN). He is currently an Assistant Professor of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Radiology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He is a senior member of the Society of Neuro-intervenional Surgery (SNIS) and the American Academy of Neurology. He serves on the executive committee of the Interventional Neurology section of the American Academy of Neurology and chairs the membership committee of the SVIN.

Dr Xavier specializes in minimally invasive treatment for stroke, aneurysm and cerebral hemorrhage. He completed his Neurology Residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, and has completed fellowships in Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases at the State University at Buffalo, and Endovascular Surgical

Neuroradiology/ Interventional Neurology at the UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School. He is Board Certified in Neurology and Stroke/Vascular Neurology. He has previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Radiology at the University of Florida, and as a clinical associate at the prestigious National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke (NINDS) in Bethesda, MD.
